The training band for the Google Fitbit Air. Soft silicone that shrugs off sweat, chlorine and salt water, wipes clean under a tap and dries instantly. Where a fabric band soaks up a hard session and stays damp for hours, this one is ready again by the time you have finished stretching.
One band covers the adult wrist range, adjusted through a standard pin buckle with closely spaced holes. Google sells its silicone band in two sizes and asks you to pick correctly before you have held it. We would rather you set the fit yourself and change it whenever your wrist does, which it will between a cold morning and the end of a hard session.
Grip the band by its outer edges either side of the tracker, then press down firmly on the face of the tracker until it releases from the cradle. Match the tracker to the alignment marks on the new band and push until you feel it click home. Tug it gently to confirm it has seated properly. There should be no movement in the cradle at all.
Wear it on the top of your wrist, sitting just behind the wrist bone rather than on top of it, with room to slip your little finger underneath. Snug it up before a session and back it off afterwards, since skin needs airflow and no band should be worn tight around the clock.
The Air holds its tracker in a moulded cradle rather than on lugs, so bands made for the Charge, Inspire, Luxe, Versa or Sense will not fit, and Air bands will not fit those models either. Our Fitbit band compatibility guide covers what does and does not cross over across the range.
Can I swim in it?
Yes. The Fitbit Air is water resistant to 50 metres and silicone is the right material for it. Rinse in fresh water afterwards, especially after salt water or chlorine.
Why choose silicone over the fabric loop?
Sweat and water. A woven band absorbs both and takes hours to dry, and doing that daily is what makes fabric bands start to smell. Silicone rinses clean. Most people end up with one of each and swap depending on the day.
Will it irritate my skin during long sessions?
Silicone is generally well tolerated, and the main cause of irritation is not the material but moisture trapped under a band worn too tight for too long. Loosen it after training, dry underneath, and rotate bands if you wear the Air continuously.
Is this an official Google band?
No. This is an OzStraps band made to fit the Fitbit Air cradle, which is how we can offer one size and a wider colour range than the official bands.
Does it come with the tracker?
No, this is the band only. The Fitbit Air tracker transfers across from your existing band.
Can I wear it to sleep?
You can, though many people prefer a softer fabric band overnight. If you sleep in silicone, wear it a touch looser than your training setting.
