The Fitbit Versa Review

Fitbit Versa is the latest addition to the number of activity trackers by this company. It is an improvement on the Fitbit Ionic which did not live up to expectations when it was launched in 2018. One of the reasons for criticizing the Ionic is its rather clumsy look. As for the new offering, it is as casual as a smartwatch can be.

Design, Display, Battery Life of Fitbit Versa

In the Fitbit Versa, the company found a way of getting rid of the sporty block corners of the Iconic to replace them with round corners. That gives the Versa a friendlier and sleeker look.

You cannot help but notice how sleek the rounded design looks, even for those who would prefer block corners. It has a slim aluminum body that is comfortable and compact to wear. Instead of making you feel uncomfortable, it will lie flat on your wrist and the Ionic doesn’t come close.

Although you will use the Versa to track your fitness goals, it gives you a more polished look for a sophisticated lifestyle. It has an uncanny resemblance to the Apple Watch. The Versa, however, stands out due to the physical buttons on its display. The battery lasts for over 5 days.

This smartwatch has a vibrant and bright touchscreen that is easy to read even in bright daylight. Whenever you want to wake up this feature, you can do so by pressing the button on the left hand. It is available in rose gold, silver, and black color schemes apart from being made of metal, leather, silicone, and women materials.

Fitbit Versa Sensors

Specifications and Sensors

Compared to the Ionic, the Versa has no built-in GPS. You can only track the running route by taking your phone as well. If you were wondering why it costs much less, that is the reason.

The Versa’s onboard storage capacity is big enough to hold 300 tracks that can be played using the Bluetooth headphones. You don’t have to carry your phone with you to the gym. It has an onboard NFC chip that provides for contactless payments.

This smartwatch can resist water up to a 50-meter depth which means you can go swimming with it. The features that give the Versa the ability to track activity include the altimeter, optical heart rate monitor, 3-axis gyroscope, and 3-axis accelerometer.

Activity and Exercise Tracking

If you are involved in walking, running, cycling, and swimming, the Versa has all the sensors to help you with that. Use it during your general workouts like interval training and weightlifting. At the end of it all, you will be able to track your steps, heart rate, distance covered, calories burned, floor climbed, and sleep.

Fitbit Versa vs. Apple Watch

Smartwatch Functionality

Although the Fitbit Versa has smartwatch capabilities, there is the need for improvement, especially in terms of the downloadable and usable apps. Some of the apps featured on the Versa include Deezer, Strava, Nest, Yelp, Hue Lights, and New York Times. The smartwatch allows you to receive notifications for texts, calls, and events happening on your phone.
