Fitbit Versa

On 28 August 2019, Smartwatch maker Fitbit announced the Versa 2, the latest version of the original Fitbit Versa. Once again, Fitbit has outdone itself by retaining the best features of the original, and adding features such as the voice assistant. Overall, the Fitbit Versa 2 features a new lightweight design, long battery life, and the option to have the display always on. However, it lacks a GPS chip, Spotify playback offline, and integration with Google Fit or Apple Health.

Who Should Buy the Fitbit versa 2?

If all you want is a smart watch to help you keep fit, then you should buy the Fitbit Versa 2. It is minimalist when it comes to its features and won’t replace your smartphone. Even though the watch aims at helping you keep track of your activity and fitness, it also has calendar and messaging notification capabilities. You can also play music on your smartphone in an easy and simple way.

What Is The Fitbit Versa 2 Price?

Only released for sale on 28 August 2019, the Fitbit Versa 2 costs $199.95. This is the same price at which the original Fitbit Versa was launched a few years ago. When you buy it, you will qualify for a free Fitbit Premium trial for seven days.

Fitbit Versa 2 Design and Display

Like its predecessor, the Fitbit Versa 2 features a “squircle” design. In fact, you would mistake this newer version to be the Fitbit Versa. Yet the Versa 2 has been made to look sleeker that the previous version. It has a 44 mm screen, which fit most wrists. Versa 2 has thinner bezels. The display has a beautiful black background. Instead of three buttons, the Versa 2 now has only one with most navigations happening on the AMOLED touchscreen with a Gorilla Glass 3.

With a 300 by 300 screen resolution, the brightness can reach 1,000 nits. If you want, you can opt for the always-on option. However, this may cut the battery life by more than half.

How Does Fitbit Versa 2 Compare With Fitbit Versa Lite?

The newer version of Versa Lite compares favorably with the Versa 2. For instance, it has only two buttons compared to the original three. With Versa Lite, you will no longer be able to track laps swimming laps or climbed floors. If you are looking to join the smartwatch market for the first time, the Versa Lite is the watch for you. The Versa Lite is available for sale at only $159.95.

Unlike the Versa 2, this lighter version of the smartwatch lacks Wi-Fi capabilities. Also, it doesn’t have onboard music storage. It is only suitable for sleep analysis, heart rate monitoring, and female health tracking compared to the Versa 2 which can also be used for floor tracking, lap tracking, and guided workouts.

The Bottom Line

Whether you are looking to buy the Fitbit Versa 2 of the Versa Lite, both have been upgraded and look much better than the previous versions. In determining which one of these you should buy, price is the most important consideration.
