Samsung Galaxy Watch Review
If you are looking for a smartwatch that parks in finesse and a larger than usual user interface, the Galaxy Watch is what you should go for. One of its best features is the battery, which lasts for at least four days. You cannot compare it to any other smartwatch on the market today. It doesn’t just look like a high-end wristwatch but feels like one too.
Features and Benefits
- Rotating bezel.
This is a feature that has appeared on previous Samsung smartwatches such as the Gear S3. The rotating bezel makes it easier to navigate the Galaxy Watch. You don’t have to struggle to accurately target the small touchscreen.
- Longer battery life.
Did you know that the battery of this new smartwatch can last you for at least four days of normal use? During that time, you would have checked messages, tracked workouts, fetched numerous notifications, used Bixby, and played Spotify. That’s for the bigger version of the Galaxy Watch. The smaller version would last you four days.
- Geared to track fitness.
Compared to its previous version, the Gear S3, the newer smartwatch is more focused as a fitness tracker. It is equipped with a newer version of the Samsung Health App and additional sensors. You can use it to track six exercises, pushes you to get active, and accurately tracks sleep. You can use it when swimming, given that it’s waterproof up to a depth of 50 meters.
Galaxy Watch Drawbacks
- With this smartwatch, you will not be able to access great apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Google Maps. This could be a little frustrating to the individuals who are used to these apps.
- Although the Bixby Voice Assistant was meant to be a better replacement of S Voice, it isn’t any good. It has been touted as a lousy assistant, given its inability to understand human language.
- Samsung Pay has made a comeback but without some of the security features, it had on the Gear S3. It lacks the use of Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). You would have every reason to doubt your security when using it.
Should You Buy The Galaxy Watch?
A years or so ago, the Samsung Gear S4 was set for release. Since that never happened, it is not surprising that the Galaxy Watch seems to be a reincarnation of the older watch with added features. The things you will enjoy from the latest Samsung smartwatch include fitness tracking software, waterproofing, and a whole new version of sensors.
It comes in a bigger than usual sizes with bigger and smaller versions. If you have been looking for a watch to wear during your workouts and for everyday notifications, this is it. It may not be a perfect fitness tracker, but it is better than many other smartwatches.
Its price ranges from $299 to $359. This is not a price too high for what’s considered to be the best smartwatch in the world today. When you wear it, the people you meet will keep asking you to tell them where you got the watch from. Who doesn’t like a little bit of attention?
